My Students

Hi! I work with grades 1-5 in an urban elementary school. Many of my students are new to the United States and often come from countries that lack materials, resources, and space.

I face the task of teaching students English, which can be very intimidating for students, especially if their families had not wanted or planned to move to the United States anyways.

Many of our students have experienced some sort of traumatic uproot, which affects them in many ways.

I aim to make my instruction fun, collaborative, and enriching as these students learn language and content simultaneously.

My Project

It is so important that students develop a passion for reading. To develop a passion, students need to feel confident AND interested in what they choose to read.

By contributing to this project, you will be helping English Language Learners develop their reading skills and build English vocabulary in a fun way.

So often my students may see these amazing book series in the library, but cannot yet access or enjoy them because they are in English. This is why I have selected some book sets in Spanish.

The English books that I have selected will interest students and help them as they begin their journey of reading fluently in English.
