Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch! I have high expectations that they will grow and learn beyond what is expected. We are learning skills such as robotics, coding, and typing along with our curriculum. School is a safe and happy place for my students. Each day, they come into the classroom excited about the day and spending time exploring and learning together. For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day.

My Project

The Osmo kit will provide hands on experiences with words, numbers, and puzzle solving. Osmo is a great resource technology tool because they are going to help children develop a better understanding of technology, engineering, and math applications.

With the use of Osmo Numbers, Hotwheels MindRacer Game, Osmo Tangram and Osmo Words I will be able to enrich my students' technology knowledge.

The Osmo has changed the way that a child interacts with the iPad by opening it up to hands-on play. The Osmo is an innovated piece of technology that is great for nurturing positive play experiences for children. My class currently has some of the other Osmo applications (pizza and Monster). The children loved using Osmo to explore financial literacy and art. The Monster application is where a child's drawing can come to life. Their creativity will become animated, perfect for kids who love to draw! Osmo teaches logic skills and problem solving and it can help children succeed in this digital world that we are living in. Hotwheels MindRacer will help teach the children the basics of working in teams.

Osmo has a great carrying case that allows he students to place all materials including the base in one location. Before the students would carry three to five boxes plus an iPad. Now with the carrying case, the students will only have the case and iPad.
