My Students

I teach fifth graders who are mostly from low income households. They don't have much but they give their all on a regular basis. Despite the adversity that they face outside of school, they are eager and ready to discover new things everyday.

One of my goals as a fifth grade teacher is to prepare my students for middle school.

Technology plays a major role in preparing them for future years in school. Students take pride in their work when using technology and they are better prepared for those years through meaningful work.

My Project

My students need one chromebook for researching and for taking AR quizzes. AR builds reading comprehension skills which will aid in students being able to research their chosen topics for social studies projects and genius hour projects. Students in our school are also being exposed to taking online assessments throughout the school year because the state has begun this format for end of year tests.

Having an additional chromebook means less sharing and filtering through of students.

Students will feel less rushed to let a classmate use their chrome book and this will make them more accustomed to the process and extremely comfortable at the end of the school year when testing rolls around.
