My Students

The children in my preschool class look forward to coming to school everyday. They still love life and school. They love to sing, dance, draw, play pretend, interact with their friends and most of all they love to learn. They learn by doing. They make predictions, complete experiments and have class discussions in order to make discoveries.

Our preschool class is made up of 16 amazing preschoolers who come from families where English is a second language.

Our school is a fully funded program including breakfast lunch and snack. The students attending this program are said to have several disadvantages succeeding in school. We are here to change that! These students deserve the best in life. They have more background knowledge and life experiences than most of us will ever have.

My Project

One area that my students struggle with is fine motor skills. Because this tends to be practiced using paper and pencil, most four year-old children do not find that fun or interesting. That is why we are in need of these materials.

By donating to this project, you will be providing each child the materials needed to help grow their independence and imagination while at the same time building their fine motor skills.

These materials will be seen in different parts of the classroom. For instance, the building materials will be found in the woodworking area. There, each child will be given the opportunity to build using real life materials, problem solve and work together towards a common goal. The small scissors will be used in the art area for those children whose hands are not yet ready for the larger scissors. Lastly, the tying, buttoning and snapping cards will be found in the toy area with other manipulative. They will allow each child an opportunity to strengthen skills that allow for greater independence.
