My Project

In the special education classroom, most time students have to be retaught skills they have learned in the classroom. We try to teach a skill the same way as the classroom just in small group settings, however will also add in centers, games, or other activities for the students to practice and ultimately have success with each skill they are learning. We spend a lot of our personal money on laminating sheets, velcro, color ink, to make sure that the students have a fun way to learn. I recently discovered another teacher blog that said she used menus to slip the activities in and then could slip them out again after the students proved they had learned the skill. It was saving her so much money in the classroom.

This project will provide students who don't always get a chance to be independent learners, take ownership in what they are learning.

We can use the TeachersPayTeachers gift card to purchase activities that are created with the students in mind and are based on the skills they are trying to conquer and learn. We can put the activities in the Menu Covers and the students can take them somewhere around the room and use dry erase markers to complete the activities. This would make an otherwise paper/pencil activity a great deal more fun! Any help that you might provide to help my students and myself would be greatly appreciated.
