My Project

My students with special needs learn in beautifully different ways, and no two students are ever the same. Many of my students are non-verbal and rely on visuals to understand the world around them, follow routines, and build independence in daily life skills. Simple tasks like brushing teeth, completing a craft, or participating in a lesson require step-by-step visual supports that are customized for each child. I use programs like Boardmaker and Canva to design these materials, carefully adjusting colors, fonts, and layouts to meet each student’s unique needs, especially for those with visual challenges. Because there are so few ready-made resources for students with special needs, I find myself always creating everything from scratch—and each resource must be printed, organized, and laminated for every individual student.

Right now, creating these materials is incredibly challenging because we often have to share laptops or rely on Chromebooks that are not designed for programs like Canva and Boardmaker. With a dedicated desktop computer and printer, I will be able to consistently create and provide personalized materials for each of my students. My goal is to give every child access to learning in a way that truly works for them, helping them grow in independence, confidence, and daily life skills. My students are unique, resilient, capable, and full of potential, they simply need the right tools. With your support, I can continue creating meaningful, individualized resources that allow my students to thrive and be seen for who they truly are.
