I have the privilege to teach and mold some of the sweetest 3-5 year olds you will ever meet. They learn how to play, socialize, read, and write a little bit differently than most students. Some are not able to communicate the traditional way. They each come into my classroom with struggles of their own.
It is my job to love and encourage them that they can do anything that they put their mind too.
Even though the educational world labels them "special" they are no different to those who work with them daily. They deserve to experience life like everyone else. Their hearts are so big and they love whoever walks into the class. Being their teacher, it is my job to teach them, however they have taught me so much about how to treat and accept others.
My Project
My classroom is full of students with multiple disorders such as Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Genetic Disorders, just to name a few, that keep them from functioning in your everyday classroom. Learning is taking place in my room, just in a different form.
Writing with a pencil, unlocking a door, and stacking items are daily tasks we take for granted that we have the natural ability to do.
Our students need direct instruction in order to build their hand strength and coordination. These activity centers and magnetic tiles offer a fun and motivational way to meet their goals. The lock and latch busy boards allow the students to twist, turn, pinch, pull, and push their way to success. It is proven that tactile learning increases student performance. In this way, your donation will contribute to giving them access to explore the world around them. The magna-doodles will give them opportunities to practice writing, tracing, and drawing.
These items will address their fine motor needs. The donations to this project will greatly affect the learning within my classroom walls and the students will be able to carry it with them through out life.
