This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students work so hard when they come to my resource groups. They all want to reach their individual goals (IEP goals) and our class goals. They are willing to try their very best to finish assignments and learn new skills in order to achieve success. They want to be the best readers, writers, and mathematicians that they can be.

My students have made each resource group a safe environment for everyone that is in it.

They are willing to help each other out when someone is struggling with a concept, word, or math problem. They cheer each other on to always give their all and to never give up even when things get hard. I am amazed at how kind my students are to each other, and they deserve extra tools to help them reach their potential.

My Project

My students want to become better readers, writers, and mathematicians, and they will become those things as they practice their high-frequency words. Through the usage of the materials, my students will be able to practice and memorize high-frequency words. This will help them to have a better reading rate and comprehension. My students will use the materials to do multi-sensory activities that will help their brains remember high-frequency words. These activities include using Wikki Sticks, Play-Doh, sand, and magnetic letters to write sight words.

Learning sight words is essential for students' growth in literacy.

These materials will help my students reach their individual (IEP goals) and class goals. Since high-frequency words make up more than 70% of the words that my students encounter in their texts, they will be able to be very successful in my groups and in their general education classes as they learn these words.
