Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"If they can't learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn" is a quote that describes our classroom perfectly. Our first grade classroom has 7 students with a primary diagnosis of Autism. To meet our students' individual sensory and academic needs, the classroom environment utilizes visual schedules, technology, and hands-on academic activities.
Our goal is to support the unique learning needs of our students to maximum independence and build a solid foundation on which to go out into the community and be productive members of society.
My Project
Our students are focusing on expanding their language arts and math skills while engaging in a hands-on academic task. With these blocks and manipulatives, our students will be able to use their own creativity while exploring academic topics. The accessories option for this purchase allows even more opportunities for learning. These topics include color awareness, geometry, number identification, alphabet awareness, and fine motor skills.
Students with a primary diagnosis of Autism learn best with hands-on activities.
These manipulatives will also allow students to do an independent academic task within the classroom environment, which is always a goal in our functional classroom.
