My students are fun and respectful! Just like my colleagues, the staff at our school are so grateful for everything that is happening in this place every day. Over 75% of our students have known each other for over five years because they come from the same feeder elementary school. Our students know each other really well because they grow up together and they know how to respect each other. This is rare because we are an inner city school in the center of Boston, where the mobility rate is extremely high.
As a Title I city school, we are proud to say that our attendance is above 90% on average.
Occasionally, our 8th graders will reach a 100% attendance. Academically, they are outstanding! They strive to work for good grades. In the last term, over 80% of our eighth graders were Honorable Mention or above. My students and my school are amazing! They motivate me to reach out for additional resources for them! My Project
The materials we are requesting will make a tremendous difference in students' learning such as CAD, programming, video editing, collaborating online via Google Apps (gDoc, gSheet, etc.,) Students in my class are learning Physics, Engineering Design, Mathematics, and Robotics. All of these areas demand fast computers! Students will learn physics, data analysis, prototyping, problem solving, CAD, robotics, programming writing lab reports, collaborating with each other and more! Students will learn how to build these computers as they come in separate components - using the NUC bare bone system students will be installing the SSD, Windows 10, the memory, connecting wireless mouse/keyboard and the hdmi cables to monitors and troubleshoot everything in between! We take computers for granted everyday, but do we know how to build one? They will learn with your help and they will learn how to optimize the machines so they own their learning. There is just so much they can do! The crazy thing is that technology is growing exponentially, yet our classroom equipment is so behind.
