This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a diverse and underestimated bunch in the Southside area of San Diego. Our room is only beginning to explore our infinite potential. Our students are resilient and proud! Our room creates an environment that challenges our students with rigorous tasks while providing a safe space to fail and learn.

These students are the roses that grew from concrete; the roses that manage to walk even without feet.

Our room is a 1st/2nd grade class with 23 students. Our curious elementary class managed to come from different parts of the world and resides, in harmony, in our room.

My Project

These items will provide an opportunity for my students to explore science and technology areas of study. My students will apply math/problem-solving concepts, as well as, develop teamwork skills.

These tools will be used in the class BUT students can use these skills lifelong.

For example, students will be given a task to build a given object from LEGO bricks, as a team. Then, design improvements to objects or other tasks of similar rigor. My goal is to hopefully have students experience creative design as well as general construction.

Overall, my goal is to have students create, work together, and grow from the experiences our design teams are tasked with.
