Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
¡Hola! I have a very energetic group of 25 second graders that begun their journey in Bilingualism (Spanish/English) and have been reaching so many milestones this school year besides all the obstacles.
Most of my students have had challenging situations during their learning experiences, half of them had virtual learning during kindergarten which led them to be behind on many different skills, the other half are English learners and newcomers that recently arrived to the country and experiencing school as the first time in the Spanish or English language.
I have been doing my best to make their learning experience fun and enjoyable while covering all the gaps from K-2nd in both languages, especially Spanish. My students are reaching 1st grade level still but I am confident that with the help of these materials they will finish the school year feeling confident and a step closer on approaching their grade level.
At this point of the school year my students can work independently and collaboratively. I have designed different literacy centers with the resources my school provided and my own resources but the donations of these materials would definitively boost my students' Spanish skills. Constructing words, identifying syllables and using the magnetic letters will keep my students engaged when working on their centers.
