Building Emotional Vocabulary With LEGOs

Help me give my students LEGO sets to develop their vocabulary for feelings and support them in expressing their emotions through play.

My Project

There are so many skills that you can teach through playing with LEGOs. We practice taking turns, sharing, joint attention, planning, cooperation, frustration tolerance, and focus. The LEGO Build Me Emotions sets will be the perfect tool for identifying and expressing different emotions. One of the most important things that we can do for our students is to help them build their emotional vocabulary. Having the words to express how you are feeling is one of the first objectives to teaching emotion regulation and coping skills. When we can't identify or say how we feel, emotions can quickly become compounded and overwhelming.

My students will be able to do fun and engaging activities with the different feeling faces that come in these sets and will have new opportunities to practice labeling their feelings and recognizing emotions in themselves and others.

The LEGO education people will help me to add some much needed diversity to the LEGOs that my students have access to, making the toys that they play with more representative of themselves. This is so important in helping them to develop self-confidence and pride in every aspect of their identity.
