My Students

Our school is a K-8 charter school in an urban area.
Our students are diverse, and they all strive to be civic-minded leaders, accomplished writers, and resilient lifelong learners. Becoming civic-minded leaders involves knowing about our community workers and their roles. Part of being a lifelong learner involves providing early childhood experiences that involve socialization and opportunities to play and explore.
My Project
My students spend the majority of their day in Kindergarten doing small group learning activities in both literacy and math centers. The most beneficial activities as well as those most enjoyed by students are the ones that have fun materials that are interactive and can be shared with others. Literacy games such as Match the Letters, Alphabet Fish, and Beehives will help my young students with important letter recognition and reading skills. Math games such as Cookies on a Plate, Buttons on a Shirt, and Cupcake store will help students develop counting skills, number sense, problem solving, and collaboration. These activities, found in the requested folder games, will also build a love for learning as students collaborate and engage in fun learning experiences with their peers.
This project will help students not only build their literacy and math skills, it will also help their social-emotional development as they negotiate roles in games, as well as give them a memorable tactile experience that will help foster a love of learning.
