This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are not stopped by poverty. Though they live in the Arkansas Delta and many have never left the town they live in, they are hungry for information and eager to create in my art room.
My students are part of a rural farming community where approximately 98% of them receive free or reduced-price lunch.
They live in poverty but do not allow that to define them. These students are creative, innovative, and energetic! Nothing can hold them back, and I want to make sure they have everything they need to succeed in the art classroom.
My Project
My art classroom is choice-based, meaning students get to choose what materials they use and what they want to create. A very popular choice is the building center. Students get to create by making 3D objects, which is an appeal to so many learners!
These requested LEGO Creative Brick, Bricks and Gear, and supplement sets will give my students more tools to create with.
Students are already so creative with their LEGO projects and they could really soar with more materials! So many students gravitate towards building and love the tactile aspect of the building center. LEGO is by far the most popular material. More LEGO sets mean more students get to create at the same time, and they can be even more creative with more pieces at their disposal!
The LEGOs they have currently were supplied by me with my own personal money. I can not provide more for them and they would be so thankful for more LEGOs!
