Help me give my students a Nintendo Switch console, controllers, games and a TV to help them enter the world of eSports and provide them with opportunities for communication, collaboration, and critical thinking activities.

My Students
I teach Spanish and eSports at a middle school in a high-poverty area with a fantastic faculty. We are dedicated to our students and have been designated again as a National School to Watch this year. Over 50% of our student population receives free or reduced-cost lunches.
Our students come from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds but have big hearts, are willing to work, and love to help each other learn.
I love my students and am so impressed with their resilience as many have gone and are going through a lot of difficult times and still fighting for a bright future.
My Project
Esports provide many opportunities for growth and learning.
Video games are a great way for students to bond with each other and practice skills such as communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Even though most of the conversation is centered on the games themselves, it is undeniably that this is a bonding experience to create healthy relationships at school, more so after the impact COVID-19 has have in students. Also, many of the same skills that employers are looking for are in eSports, they can provide a gateway to colleges and universities.
Given the circumstances of these last few years, the ability to decompress and socialize in a safe manner has never been more important.
In addition to all that, eSports are becoming a lucrative way to go. It is estimated that last year alone, 500,000 people watched an eSport competition either live or online. By helping bring eSports to our school, you are helping our middle school students get a head start on other students their age.
