Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a School Social Worker, I have the privilege of working with an incredible group of students who are eager to learn and grow but often face challenges that impact their academic and social success. My students are resilient, creative, and full of potential, yet many struggle with social-emotional skills, fine motor development, and forming positive relationships with peers and adults.

To support their growth, I want to provide engaging incentives like headphones, tablets, board games, and magnet tiles to encourage participation in learning, reinforce positive behaviors, and foster social connections.

These resources will serve as both motivational rewards and tools to develop critical life skills in a fun and meaningful way.

Tablets & Headphones – Allow students to engage in interactive social-emotional learning (SEL) programs, mindfulness activities, and skill-building games in a focused, distraction-free environment.

Board Games – Promote cooperation, turn-taking, and problem-solving, helping students strengthen friendships and practice emotional regulation.

Magnet Tiles & Fine Motor Games – Support creativity, patience, and fine motor development while also encouraging teamwork and perseverance.

By incorporating these resources into my social-emotional groups and reward system, students will have the opportunity to build self-confidence, experience positive reinforcement, and develop trusting relationships in a structured and supportive way.

My students are bright, energetic, and capable of incredible growth when given the right support. Many of them face challenges outside of school that make it difficult to focus on learning. However, when they feel safe, supported, and encouraged, they thrive. This project is about creating opportunities for them to feel valued, celebrated, and successful—both in the classroom and beyond.
