My Students
Building connections between old and new knowledge helps enlighten and enhance learning. Classroom discussions help broaden my students' knowledge base about the topics and ideas we're studying. Although my students attend a Title I school, they love working together, discussing new topics, as well as making connections between what they're learning and the real world.
My students range in abilities and languages spoken; they are diverse learners who need a variety of teaching strategies to help them learn.
My students come to school eager to learn from various living situations such as single parents, foster homes, homeless shelters, or extended family living.
Despite their varying home lives, they come to school with a zest for learning.
My Project
A Scholastic News subscription helps to build enthusiasm about and awareness of national and world issues! The students can work together to identify connections between what they already know and the content within the news articles. This enriches their discussions and strengthens their reading comprehension. The students can participate in independent and group projects that build their reading skills through close reading and critical analysis of the current topics.
This subscription will give them access to learning about more topics and build their love of reading one magazine at a time!
