Building Connection and Coordination Through Ball Play

My Project

We are opening a new classroom for young learners with autism, speech and physical impairments, and other developmental delays—and we need your help to make it an engaging, inclusive, and joyful space.

We are launching our Ball Exploration Unit, part of our Creative Curriculum- unfortunately, we currently do not have balls or related materials for students to engage with, and we need your help to bring this essential learning to life.

For children with communication and motor challenges, ball play is more than fun—it’s a gateway to physical development, cooperative learning, social-emotional growth, and confidence. Kicking, rolling, catching, and tossing a ball can teach turn-taking, coordination, teamwork, and self-regulation. It encourages language use, shared attention, and physical activity—all critical for our students’ development.

We are requesting durable, adaptive, and developmentally appropriate ball play materials to create meaningful, inclusive opportunities for learning and play. These materials will not only help us implement our Ball Unit but will also be used year-round, and for years to come, as tools for recess, movement breaks, sensory regulation, and physical education.

Every child deserves the opportunity to play, move, and connect. Your support will help us build a foundation of wellness, joy, and belonging for our students through every roll, bounce, and catch.
