I teach a diverse group of K–3rd grade special education students at a Title I school, where many of our learners face academic challenges alongside economic hardship. My students are bright, curious, and eager to learn—but they need the right tools to succeed.
Many of my students are just beginning their journey as readers.
They are motivated to read when they can successfully decode the words on the page. Watching them light up when they realize they can read independently is truly magical.
This project will provide my students with a wide range of decodable books at various reading levels. These books are specifically designed to align with phonics instruction and help students practice and master early literacy skills.
Many of my students are working hard to catch up to grade level. Having access to books they can read—books that are meant for their stage of development—is essential for building confidence, fluency, and a love of reading.
With your support, we can add high-quality decodable readers to our classroom libraries that students can use during small group instruction and independent reading time.
These resources will directly support early literacy development by:
Matching books to students' current decoding abilities.
Helping them build fluency and comprehension through repeated successful reading experiences.
Supporting students with learning differences who need structured, accessible text.
Promoting a sense of achievement and joy in reading.
Early success in reading lays the foundation for lifelong learning. Your donation will help open the door to literacy for students who need it most.
Thank you for supporting young readers in a special education setting—you’re helping them build skills and confidence that will last a lifetime.
