Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our bilingual kindergarten classroom, building a strong foundation in literacy is one of our biggest goals. My students are eager to learn to read, speak, and write in both English and Spanish. With your support, I will be able to give them engaging resources that help develop essential language skills and make learning fun and meaningful.
This project will provide two important tools for our classroom.
The first is a set of interactive Power Pen Spanish Vocabulary Cards. These will support my students in learning high-frequency words in Spanish through fun, hands-on practice. As young learners explore the cards and get instant feedback from the pen, they build confidence in recognizing and using new vocabulary. This type of independent, play-based learning is perfect for five-year-olds and supports our classroom language goals.
The second item is a pair of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which will allow me to record and document authentic learning moments, model reading strategies, and create personalized content to support early literacy skills. These videos will also be used to engage families and share their child’s progress in meaningful ways. With this technology, I can capture student voice, reading milestones, and classroom activities that promote a love of literacy.
Together, these materials will help my students grow as readers and writers in both languages. They will see themselves as successful learners and feel proud of the words they can read, speak, and write.
