Building Confidence Through Reading!

Help me give my students access to texts that build confidence and increase their reading by reading decodable books and activities.

My Project

Covid-19 has negatively impacted my student's reading. They are reading at lower levels and have not had access to rich texts at their level. These books will continue to enhance my student's self-esteem and build their confidence. My dream is to create a classroom library where struggling readers have many options and can check out books of interest. My students often get embarrassed by the lower-level readers that they need to read to build skills in reading. This reduces the amount they read making them further behind their peers. Many books are not decodable and have too many unknown words making the text incomprehensible and enhancing the student's impulse to guess.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own reading level.

They will also be able to choose books that interest them and not be embarrassed to read them around their peers. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
