A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.
I teach an amazing group of diverse students, at a Title I school.
Many of them come from exceptionally humble homes, and some are homeless. However, they come to school each day ready to learn.
With your help, they can have the tools they need to be successful. I want them to have a welcoming and comfortable environment in the classroom, where they can learn and feel safe.
My Project
Being successful in school is not always about academics; it is also about personal growth and character building. I want my students to create something with their own hands and imagination, and then give it to another person to find joy in helping others. Likewise, I want students to learn that each person in a community is responsible for the social climate of that community and small acts of kindness can do a great deal to bring positivity to a community.
Teaching students a way to spread kindness, and joy helps them build others and themselves up at the same time.
Students will use the various art supplies, ribbons, mesh, and frames, to create wall art, to give to others for display. When you improve your community and create a positive space, you become more positive. This project is a way for students to build their own confidence, and improve their community. They will then be able to carry that confidence with them, on the next academic and or social struggle they face.
