My students need someplace to play, build and learn. They could to see their ideas come to life. I think a Lego wall would give many of our students the opportunity to create while working together.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students come to my library for more reasons than just checking out books. In the mornings before school, students come in to play games, do puzzles, color pictures, play with puppets or maybe just sit down and read. Throughout the day we see students come in to work on projects, find information or maybe to work in small groups.
We are K-6 school, made up of a very diverse population.
We have over 88% of our students on free or reduced lunch. We have many students that are residing in group homes and many with bilingual families.
With a transient neighborhood I want our library to be a place where all students feel welcome and can find something to do. I want students to feel at home when they are in our library.
My Project
Legos offer students an opportunity to explore and experiment. With STEAM becoming more important in schools, Legos have become an essential piece of Maker spaces. Bringing Legos into our library and giving students a place to be creative, I hope our students will discover a fun activity that they can do together and will also be learning while building. In the process, students will learn to work together and share, helping to build a sense of community within our school. I am hoping to give them a safe, comfortable place in their school that can be fun, creative and educational.
