Building Community With Community Blocks!

Help me give my students a community building set for our block center!

My Students

Students in my classroom are military dependents and local residents of a large town in Hawaii. Our school is a Title I school which means we have a high percentage of students from low-income families. Furthermore, our school has a transient population due to the students with parents in the military.

My students are fun-loving, preschool aged, special education students.

Students have different disabilities such as autism, speech delays, and developmental delays but they are eager, bright, and love to learn about everything! I hope to make their first experiences in school fun and engaging!

My Project

Building with blocks naturally encourages collaboration and enhances children’s social skills. Along with these important social emotional skills, students in my preschool special education classroom will also be enhancing thier fine-motor and visual-spactial skills when putting the blocks together.

The community blocks with encourage my students to work together and build a community out of blocks.

I can’t wait to hear the conversations students will have as they work together and create the communities in the block center.

The set also comes with transportation, people, and community buildings to encourage pretend play. Students will pretend to be people in the community. Your donation will encourage students to use their imagination as they engage in pretend play with the props!
