Building Community through Coffee and Games!

Help me give my students a central space to start our day with a beautiful rug to center our classroom. We start our mornings with a class meeting then our students prepare our coffee cart business.

My Project

We will use the large rug as a central meeting place for our students to start our morning meeting and get ready to focus on our community jobs in our high school.

After the meeting, our students prepare for the coffee cart by stocking materials such as creamers and coffee pods.

using individual sized portion sizes of coffee and creamers allow our students to exercise counting and matching skills to complete coffee orders.

Our students are a mixed group with severe and profound cognitive disabilities and some on the autism spectrum. We work hard to incorporate daily living skills and future employment skills to be as independent as we can be.

When we complete our work for the day, we celebrate by playing board games with our classmates and invited students from our Unified club. All of our students in the group look forward to playing board games. This is the best part of our week!
