My Project
In today’s fast-paced world, our students need more than academics—they need social-emotional skills that help them connect, understand, and care for one another. This project uses classic and cooperative board games to teach students in grades 2–7 how to show compassion, collaborate with others, and build meaningful relationships.
With your support, we will stock our classroom with games that promote teamwork, empathy, and communication.
Board games naturally put students in situations where they must consider others—whether it’s trading fairly, helping a teammate, or understanding another player’s choice. As we play, we’ll discuss what it feels like to win, lose, or make mistakes, and students will reflect on how to treat others with grace and understanding in those moments.
Through structured reflection and coaching during gameplay, students will practice comforting a classmate who is frustrated, showing encouragement, or offering help when someone feels left out. Cooperative games, in particular, will teach them that success often means helping everyone reach the goal—not just themselves.
We will use compassion journals, peer feedback forms, and teacher observations to assess growth. Success will look like improved teamwork, more supportive language, and increased patience and inclusion during play. Students will also set personal kindness goals each week, tied to how they treat others during games.
