This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students are joyful, curious, and resilient. They come from racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique perspectives and a strong sense of community. Many face systemic barriers to opportunity, yet they show up each day eager to learn, grow, and support one another.
This project is rooted in a vision of equity and belonging.
It’s not just about chairs—it’s about creating a classroom where every child feels seen, valued, and supported. High-quality, developmentally appropriate chairs will provide each student with a consistent, comfortable space that promotes focus, posture, and participation. When children feel physically supported, they are better able to fully engage in the joy of learning.
Right now, students often have to move furniture just to join a group, which causes disruptions and makes the classroom feel less stable. This daily challenge can undermine the sense of order and belonging that young children need to thrive. These aren’t just logistical issues—they’re equity issues that affect students' ability to learn in a calm, structured environment.
By giving each student a dedicated seat designed for their success, we send a powerful message: You belong here. This space was created with you in mind.
Your support will help transform our classroom into a more inclusive, affirming, and functional space—one where all students can collaborate, feel ownership, and grow. Together, we can build a learning environment that reflects justice, dignity, and care, starting with something as simple and powerful as a chair.
