Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our goal is to provide our pre-K students with a rich and stimulating learning environment that nurtures their development holistically. Central to this objective is the incorporation of diverse play resources, including hands-on toys, block people of different races, cars, and animals. These resources serve as powerful tools for learning, offering myriad benefits that extend beyond mere entertainment.
Hands-on toys like a marble run, number bots, number locks, and sensory stones are essential components of our curriculum as they facilitate experiential learning, allowing children to engage their senses and explore concepts through tactile experiences.
The inclusion of block people of different races in our classroom reflects our commitment to diversity and inclusivity. By incorporating toys that represent various ethnicities and cultures, we create an environment that celebrates differences and promotes cultural understanding among our students. These block people serve as valuable tools for teaching tolerance, empathy, and respect for diversity from an early age, laying the groundwork for a more inclusive society in the future.
Cars and animals are not merely playthings but serve as vehicles for imaginative exploration and storytelling. Through imaginative play, children develop language skills, creativity, and social-emotional competence. As they engage in role-playing scenarios with cars and animals, they learn to communicate, collaborate, and negotiate with their peers, laying the groundwork for positive social interactions and relationships.
Our project aims to provide our pre-k students with access to these essential resources, empowering them to learn, grow, and succeed. Through hands-on exploration and diverse play experiences.
