My students need STEM activities to prepare them for the work world as STEM jobs are continuously growing. These STEM kits will benefit by allowing my students to conduct hands on activities and understand science concepts.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is our second year for Cole Elementary to be open. It is wonderful, but comes with its own interesting set of issues such as a lack of supplies and funding. Students were transferred to our school from different areas around the district; therefore, they are from a variety of backgrounds. We have a wide range of incomes and an ethically diverse population.
With San Antonio's nearby military bases, we have a large number of students from military families.
Another large portion of our students are from non-English speaking families, thus we are labeled a bilingual campus. Put all of this together and you get a class of wonderful students who struggle academically with many below grade level. We are all working together to make this a productive and successful year.
My Project
This project will help improve my classroom by providing high at risk students with K'NEX and building blocks to prepare them in learning and experiencing STEM related curriculum. Being a second year campus means funding is extremely limited.
The students work very hard to do their best despite many having less than favorable conditions outside of school.
For these students, school may be the positive place where they can gain confidence and knowledge they need to be successful in life in their social, academic, and career endeavors. Coming to class and being able to participate in engaging learning activities like constructing a robot and magnetic building blocks, remote control machines, circuit kits, and using Legos can be the highlight of their day. It will prepare them for real world scenarios of problem solving and independence.
