My Students

Providing students with interesting and engaging manipulatives to rotate throughout the year insures that my students will have a deep understanding of counting and number sense.

My students are 4 and 5 year old Pre-K students.

They are energetic, inquisitive, and learn best by "doing". That is why I need more hands-on manipulatives! I can use these materials throughout the school year, as I change topics, I can also rotate materials to maintain a high level of student interest.

My Project

We will use the magnetic numbers and pictures daily to work out number problems. I will introduce combining sets, taking away, sorting, graphing, patterning, and matching quantity with a numeral using just the magnets. I will use the boxed kits in small group or individually to work with children on counting. They will be rotated throughout the year, so there will always be something new and engaging to count.

This project is important because it supplies my classroom with materials that will be used every single day.

It will strengthen math skills and help children build a firm foundation of true number sense.
