My Students

I have been working with and teaching students with disabilities at both the middle and high school for more than 15 years. My students are extremely bright, conscientious, and excited about learning, The classroom environment that I have created for my students is non-threatening. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally. I believe that my students are allowed to enjoy creative teaching moments that works towards building and creating genius minds. I have learned that in order to reach my full potential, I will need to work diligently in raising the standard for this profession, as well as enhance students learning.

My students are unique individuals that have access to a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.

It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their full potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, one that supports risk-taking, and one that invites a sharing of ideas. I believe that learner-oriented teaching promotes learning that is both purposeful and enduring.

My Project

As a teacher, a high-interest classroom library is a great place to start! Literacy is the ability to read, view, write, design, speak and listen in a way that allows you to communicate effectively. The power of literacy lies not just in the ability to read and write, but to also effectively connect, interpret and discern the intricacies of the world in which they live. Today it's about being able to make sense of and engage in advanced reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Whether we like it or not, regardless of the content we teach, we are all reading instructors.
