My Project

I'd like to expand my collection of content-adjacent activities for students to engage in beyond the daily lesson. Rather than providing absolute free time for a student who meets the day's learning objective early, I offer them a choice from a curated selection of activities that continue to provide academic benefit in some way. These have included silent reading time, building with LEGO bricks, work time on homework, and Ken Ken puzzles. With this project, I'm hoping to continue to grow this collection to provide a wider range of opportunities to students.

Learning and growth shouldn't stop when the lesson is over.

The best educational opportunities can often be in those moments when students don't see a connection between an activity and classroom content clearly laid out in front of them. My material selections support spatial and creative reasoning, critical thinking skills, vocabulary development, self-directed study, self-regulation, and more.

Not just for lesson extension: with a larger collection of materials available, I am more easily able to embed these materials in every day learning activities, such as group challenges and unit projects.
