My Project

Building Boundaries for Better Learning will provide classroom panels to create a designated calm-down area for my K–2 students with learning disabilities. Many of my students experience sensory overload, frustration, or difficulty regulating emotions throughout the school day. By using these panels to create a clearly defined, low-stimulation space, students will have a safe and structured area to practice self-regulation strategies when they begin to feel overwhelmed. A dedicated calm-down space will help reduce disruptions, prevent escalated behaviors, and support students in returning to instruction more quickly and successfully.

Teaching students how to recognize their emotions and use appropriate coping tools in a structured environment builds independence, confidence, and long-term social-emotional skills.

This calming space will directly support both their emotional well-being and their academic success.
