My Project

I truly love being able to offer my students an ever-growing classroom library! My students, both past and present, know they can come to my classroom to find new, exciting books to read. Some of my students read avidly, while some of my students are more reluctant to read. Either way, we are able to connect through our mutual love of reading or through helping to find the perfect book for their interests!

I love watching their love for reading grow and flourish, and it is important to me that I am able to keep providing titles for them to checkout.

Every day, my current students dedicate 20 minutes to independent reading, which has become an essential part of our routine that helps them build reading stamina and develop a lifelong love for books. It is so important that I keep new titles on our shelves, so students will continue to have new books to choose from and not get bored with their options. This project will help me offer my students new YA books to add to our classroom library! To enhance our reading experience, we also need small bookshelves to store and display these books, making it easier for students to browse and select stories that interest them.

Each semester, my English 2 students complete an independent book project, where they read a book of their choice and complete activities about their book to demonstrate their knowledge of our course standards. This includes a visual arts element, where students will complete a final project about their book. This project will give my students more book options to choose from!
