My Students

My students are a special, charming group of kids who teach me as much as I teach them.

All of my students are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and all of my students are amazing, dynamic learners.

Some like to learn in small groups, some learn 1-1, while others need their lessons embedded into fun, meaningful play activities. We rotate through five different language based stations a day, where IEP goals are woven into the fabric of standards based instruction.

My Project

My students need a 100 piece set of magnatiles to help them apply math concepts learned in whole group lessons during center time. Students often struggle with distinguishing between 2D and 3D shaped without tangible models. Form boxes and flat tiles that come with scripted curriculum don't seem to be doing the trick.

Magnatiles are fun- imagine playing with your math work!

And the activity doubles as a movement opportunity! By building and grappling with the shapes, students will have an interactive way to develop a deeper understanding of the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. Flat squares will be transformed into castles and student learning will soar!
