Building Blocks for Background Knowledge

My Project

The two main goals for the items I am requesting are for hands-on experiences and flexible seating.

I teach first grade in a rural, high-poverty area.

Most of my students come to school needing accommodations and many don’t have the adequate background knowledge to support their reading. Our district recently adopted CKLA and I am looking forward to creating rich learning experiences for my students to build their knowledge base.

With the items requested, I plan to help my students by having them find a space in the classroom where they work best. The other items requested all support learning with our CKLA Knowledge domains so I can provide genuine and engaging learning experiences for my students.
