Building Blocks for a STEM Makerspace

My Students

Our school is set in a suburban community, in a large metropolitan city. Even though it is in a large area, it feels like a small community, and sheltered from the bigger city.

We have a large population of students with deployed parents, as military housing sits adjacent to our school and in the surrounding area.

The students at our school come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities, and many students choose to come to our school from other neighborhoods.

Our school offers a challenging but rewarding program, with excellent, student-centered teachers. Our science lab serves all the children in our school, from TK through 5th grade, where students participate in hands-on science and engineering enrichment activities that help to prepare or encourage them to take on a science mindset and develop critical thinking skills.

My Project

Out STEM/STEAM Makerspace needs sets of Dreambuilder bricks and accessories for use in our STEM building and engineering activities. This includes basic blocks and some specialty pieces for creative challenges.

The donations to this project will allow my students the freedom to grow their problem-solving and critical thinking skills, but also gain experience working as a team to meet our engineering challenges.

This new endeavor to build a STEM/STEAM Makerspace in our science lab has my students excited about engineering and technology. By giving them a chance to try out different materials and tasks, you will be laying the "brickwork" toward future STEM/STEAM careers.
