This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Transitional kindergarten at my elementary school is the place where learning begins. For some students, it is the first time in a school environment. We have many English as a second language students who come to school excited to learn. We use all our teaching skills to make sure all students are provided with every opportunity to learn. We work to create students whose future is focused on college and career choices that will enable them to be anything their hearts desire.

Transitional kindergarten is a special time in a child's life.

They come to learn social skills, academics, and grow physically as well as intellectually. We like to focus on critical thinking and problem solving through play. Social development is many times just as important as academic development. We take the time to teach students how to respect and embrace each other's differences and similarities. Transitional kindergarten is where it all begins!

My Project

Our class is very creative and loves to build with interlocking blocks! We currently have an assortment of interlocking blocks of different sizes and colors. We build houses, boats, castles, and many other things on the carpet, and it would be so exciting if we could dedicate a wall just for building with our blocks! Building on a vertical wall would be a different way of using materials we already have and allow us to use our creative minds to wonder what we will create next. These interlocking building block walls will be such a great addition to our classroom!
