Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school, where my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. The majority of my students are on free or reduced lunch, some have learning disabilities and many are English language learners.
Despite these challenges, they still come to school eager to learn.
I am excited that I get to witness my students learning and growing!
Everyday when I come to school, I get asked so many questions from my little, eager-to-learn students. My students are risk-takers in the classroom and are always trying new things... It is inspiring!
My Project
One thing I have seen is that when a student can read confidently, they will LOVE reading. I will do everything I can to ensure that my students have all of the resources necessary to succeed. The books will be used in our classroom library for independent and pair reading. The books will provide choices to emergent bilingual students when it comes to reading.
These books will give my students the confidence and love for reading in their native language.
