Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are active learners.
When you walk in my classroom, you will see them sitting, standing, balancing on yoga balls and working together to solve problems.
I teach third Grade in a Title I school with a high population of English Language Learners (ELL).
I have a class of 24 students. Many of my students come to me below grade level due to situations outside their control. They are eager and excited learners who are always up to a new challenge. When students are given choices on where and how they work and encouraged to work together, they will be more successful.
My Project
Reading is important, and understanding what is read is essential. One way students become more confident readers is by reading books and discussing them together. Students also become more engaged in their reading when they know they will be held accountable by a partner.
My students will build a lifelong love of reading in their partnerships.
When they read together, they light up. These books will encourage partnerships and enhance book discussions. The ability to explain what you have read is expected throughout a students' entire school career. These partnerships and groups give students a safe place to practice these skills.
