This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are recent immigrants and refugees from diverse global backgrounds. Many are learning English for the first time, navigating a new culture, and adjusting to life in the United States. Despite the enormous challenges they face, they bring rich languages, powerful stories, and resilient spirits into our school every day.

This project will support affinity groups for newcomer students.

These are safe, student-led spaces where young people who share common identities—such as race, ethnicity, language, or immigration experiences—can connect, reflect, and grow.

Snacks will help create a warm, welcoming environment for students to share their uniqueness and experiences. Thank you for helping us create space where our newcomer students don’t just survive—they thrive.
