Building Bedside Book Bags for Our First Community Book Bash

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students will begin this year reading books about other young people who overcome various challenges in order to gain the power of reading and education. They will also research unique library systems around the world that help people to overcome challenges around accessing books in countries such as Kenya, Finland, Thailand and Indonesia.
My students will be helping people in their own community to access quality literature by planning a Book Bash where they will be creating, filling and distributing “Bedside Book Bags”.
My students will use this project to advocate for social justice. Please help them to get the materials they need to create beautifully decorated Bedside Book Bags that promote a love of reading. They will adorn the outside of the tote bags with motivating quotes and images to promote literacy and justice for all.
