As an elementary school counselor, I serve approximately 550 students per year in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. There is 17 elementary schools within our growing district. Through the Leader in Me Program, our wonderful students are being taught how to become leaders within their school and community. These students are very creative and enjoy trying new and exciting things. A lot of our students come from low income families and English as a Second Language Learners but they are pushed to be their best.
My Project
The Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, Building Block Bars, and Picasso Tiles will make a difference by allowing the students to use their creative imagination to build various projects during Leadership Academies, in small group settings(lunch groups, indoor recess, etc), and as a reward given by teachers.
The students will use the purchased materials to help them learn how to follow verbal, picture, and written directions, learn how to share materials, and work with others in group settings to create various projects selected by themselves or someone else.
Students will share their ideas with others and steps that were taken to create their project.
