Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help bring joyful, hands-on learning to our high school social studies classroom in Springfield, Massachusetts! My students thrive when they can move, create, and connect what they’re learning to their own lives. With tools like globes, cultural puzzles, maps, and identity-themed posters, students will explore the world while seeing their own stories reflected in the curriculum. Items such as soccer and footballs, card games, and fidget tools will promote community building, movement, and focus during class breaks and collaborative activities.

This project will help create a classroom that’s active, joyful, and student-centered.

The indoor fountain, zen garden, and energy chimes will help establish a calming space for reflection and mindfulness. Decorations that celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History, along with interactive games like Toss Across and Spot It!, will keep students engaged while reinforcing social-emotional learning, pride in identity, and global awareness. Each item plays a role in building a classroom where students feel seen, supported, and inspired.

My students are hardworking, creative, and full of potential. Many come from immigrant families or multilingual homes, bringing a rich diversity of experiences into the classroom. This project celebrates who they are, helps them feel proud of their roots, and provides a joyful space for them to grow and learn every day.
