The new iPads have been especially impactful for helping students access interactive math programs, educational apps, and individualized learning supports that allow them to work at their own pace. Many of my students benefit from visual and hands-on learning opportunities, and the technology allows lessons to become more dynamic and accessible. Students can now collaborate digitally, practice important skills independently, and receive immediate feedback that builds both confidence and academic growth. The rolling whiteboard, graph lap boards, math posters, timers, and classroom supplies have also helped create an active learning space where students feel comfortable participating, problem-solving, and sharing their thinking.\r\n\r\n Students are especially excited about using the iPads during math and small-group instruction. They love being able to interact directly with lessons, complete digital activities, and explore concepts in ways that feel fun and motivating. The graph lap boards and colorful classroom visuals have made math instruction more engaging, while the organization supplies and storage bins have helped create smoother classroom routines and more independence for students. Even simple additions like dry erase markers, rulers, and anchor chart paper have made a huge difference in helping students actively participate in lessons and practice skills collaboratively.\r\n\r\n Several students who previously struggled to stay engaged during instruction have especially connected with this new technology and classroom setup. Some students who are hesitant to participate verbally feel more comfortable demonstrating their understanding using the iPads or dry erase boards. Others who benefit from structured routines and visual supports have responded positively to the organized learning environment these materials help create. Your generosity has provided tools that support academic growth, creativity, independence, and confidence, and my students are truly grateful for the opportunities these resources provide every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757544374621,"projectUrl":"project/learning-out-loud-visuals-vibes-and-v/9362338/","projectTitle":"Learning Out Loud: Visuals, Vibes, and Victory","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sinclair","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10025131_orig.png?crop=271,271,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746652986773","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10025131"},{"teacherId":9774844,"projectId":10044388,"letterContent":"Our cadets use these items weekly to build strength and agility, improving themselves physically and mentally. I had to ask students to check in with their teachers before they could join our sessions. My principal was over the moon about the project and gave a schoolwide shout out for the funded project. I had staff coming in to have kids work on their broken nails. Others wanted to buy bracelets from us, but we told them we do not solicit. \r\n\r\nThe girls in particular that liked nails were excited about the array of nail accessories to include the variety of nail polish. The mannequins were a hit and offered students the ability to master their craft. We even had some male students joining in the fun. We got most of the items in January, but the mini refrigerator was misplaced, and we could not locate it, until late February. \r\n \r\n We had been using black and white printouts from the school copying machine, but the Wireless All -in- One Super Tank printer has transformed the materials printed and made them vibrant and more interesting for the students. My students are mostly nonverbal, and there is one student, who usually cries out in pain. When we ask him what's hurting, he usually points to his head. He can now use the Kasfalci Feeling Chart and pull out the card that says,\" I feel sick.\" We usually tell him to take a deep breath when he is upset, or he does it on his own. He can now pick up the card that says, \"Deep Breath\" \r\n\r\nThe students can also use the feeling chart during morning meetings, to say how they feel, or what they can do. The My Feelings Rainbow Fidget Tube, helps them with their emotions. The students can use the small whiteboard for independent work, or I could use it, when I need additional space.\r\n\r\nWe are so happy for the stainless-steel mini refrigerator. The students have been learning lessons on putting groceries away and what type of groceries belong in the freezer, refrigerator or pantry. We have a small refrigerator with one shelf, and the freezer is the size of a napkin box, so we could not use it for demonstration. This stainless steel, mini refrigerator has a separate freezer and three shells. The students can now practice putting food in the freezer and the refrigerator. We will also be able to store items to make sandwiches, smoothie, and ice.\r\n\r\nThe students have refrigerators at home, and they see their parents use the refrigerator to collect items and ingredients when they cook. We do not have a stove, but we are able to prepare some French fries and hamburgers in the school's, staff kitchen. We will be able to make juice, using frozen juice mixtures. Sometimes the students can store their school lunch in the refrigerator for another day. Having access to the refrigerator, will give the students a reinforced knowledge of the functions of the refrigerator. Students who need something to get them through the day know they can come to me and just get a snack, no strings attached and no questions. In our event, which was a structured murder mystery/role playing game, the snacks became a featured prop item. The players turned them into a source of intrigue and controversy that was very unexpected and really fun for all to witness. All of the snacks used then went home with the students and their families. My students come mostly from low-income families, including DCF foster families. These snacks add to the sense of safety my students feel at school. \r\n\r\nIn addition to safety and acting as a key prop, these snacks directly supplement our meals program, which can be lacking in highly nutritious or desirable options in the breakfast they are given. Sugared cereals and 2% milk are the most common items and leave students hungry. The other items that have more caloric intake or more protein are limited in number. The milk is not nutritionally viable. Most of the nutrients are processed out of it. Many of the students who use it to make the hot cocoa are able to supplement the nutritional value with the calcium added to the cocoa mix. \r\n\r\nThank you for supporting my students with simple, basic nutrition that they can rely on and choose when they want or need it.","fullyFundedDate":1766067631657,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-learning-they-can-count-on/9922649/","projectTitle":"Fuel for Learning They Can Count On","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sinclair","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9479817"},{"teacherId":9852021,"projectId":9834659,"letterContent":"The Nourishing Minds project has had a meaningful and immediate impact on my students at High School of Commerce. By providing access to healthy snacks, this project has helped address one of the most fundamental barriers to learning—hunger. Many of my students come from diverse and economically challenged backgrounds, and having access to nutritious food during the school day has made a noticeable difference in their ability to focus, engage, and participate in class activities.\r\nSince the implementation of this project, I have observed increased student attentiveness, improved classroom behavior, and greater overall participation. Students who previously struggled to stay focused are now more alert and ready to learn. The availability of snacks has also created a more supportive and caring classroom environment, where students feel valued and understood.\r\nBeyond academic benefits, this project has supported students' social and emotional well-being. Teachers quickly began incorporating the new items into class activities, and students were eager to try them out. Seeing new equipment in the gym created a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm for physical education classes. Students who may have previously been hesitant to participate have shown increased interest simply because there are now more options available to them.\r\n\r\nThe cornhole boards have quickly become a favorite among many students. While cornhole is often thought of as a recreational backyard game, it has proven to be a valuable addition to the physical education curriculum. The game encourages hand-eye coordination, concentration, and friendly competition. It also provides an inclusive activity that students of all athletic abilities can enjoy. Some students who may not feel comfortable participating in fast-paced sports have found success and enjoyment playing cornhole, which helps create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone in class.\r\n\r\nFrisbees have also added new possibilities for creative and engaging activities. Teachers have already begun using them for throwing and catching drills, cooperative games, and even modified versions of ultimate frisbee. These activities encourage teamwork, communication, and movement while helping students develop coordination and agility. Because frisbees are easy to learn and fun to use, they have been a great way to get students moving and interacting with one another.\r\n\r\nBeyond the physical benefits, this donation has strengthened the connection between our school and the community. Acts of generosity like this remind students that people care about their education and well-being. It sends a powerful message that investing in young people and their health is important.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our students and staff, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the donor for this thoughtful and generous contribution. Your support has already made a positive impact on our physical education program, and the equipment is being used and appreciated every day.
