Building A Sustainable Thinking Mathematical Centered Classroom
Help me give my students a more sustainable way to conduct group work while building a thinking classroom with whiteboards. Giving them the opportunity to have instant peer feedback and build their skill base in math is essential.
Please help me provide 5 portable whiteboards to my students. As my students take learning style surveys, one style that pops up quite frequently is peer discussion/ feedback.
Since the shutdown of schools during the pandemic, as a teacher, I have also witnessed a wonderful increase in social skills as students are growing with one another and socializing in more meaningful ways.
As a high school math teacher, I can teach the material, but students often can relate the material in a different manner (especially in Geometry, Algebra 2, and upper maths) to one another during group discussion or group work.
As of right now, I am doing this by easel pads, but as the year draws to a close, those are going to need to be replaced. These whiteboards will allow me to have a sustainable way to keep students engaged, on task, and still learning from one another. The ability to beneficially collaborate on projects and think through problems as a collective is also a highly sought trait from successful businesses.
As a former financial employer, a candidate's knack for group partnership tend to mean they were a well rounded candidate in leadership, conflict resolution, time management, integrity, accountability, and problem solving- what most successful businesses are looking for in future candidates! Building a thinking classroom is what being a teacher is centered about, so please help me fund this project to continue keeping the children of our future forward thinking!
