Building a Strong Foundation

Help me give my students gift of reading through phonemic awareness instruction and books to read at home.

My Project

COVID-19 really put a dent in the foundational reading students of many of my students. We didn't have the ability to practice skills that are foundational to reading primarily phonological and phonemic awareness. Even the best microphones and headphones were lacking in helping us, as teachers hear what students were saying. Then even when we were back in person, masks made it difficult to help students articulate sounds and words correctly, as we couldn't see and read their lips.

It is now our mission to work even harder to overcome these setbacks.

We are working twice as hard with our students to catch up.

These materials will help equip us to work in smaller groups of students to really target instruction one these foundational reading skills. These books are materials that are at the students reading level and will allow us to have enough that books can be sent home with students to practice at home.
