Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in kindergarten to fifth grade, and could be in my class from one week to six years. They are full of curiosity and energy, and are constantly growing! This critical growth includes: their understanding of and ability to identify feelings; building a positive growth mindset; and strengthening their leadership, self-management, self and social awareness, and decision making skills.
Social emotional learning is essential in education as it impacts a student's ability to express emotions appropriately, show empathy for others, build positive relationships, and generally make good decisions; however, it also allows me to better connect with my students, which may lead to an improvement in their academic performance!
My students often struggle with social emotional learning. The materials in this project have been specifically chosen with the engagement and growth of my students in mind. The characters are fun and the books provide beneficial strategies for social emotional growth! The books will be an essential part of our classroom library and will be used for many years to come.
