This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an occupational therapist, I work closely with students who face sensory processing challenges. I seek to equip my classroom with the necessary tools to better support their unique learning needs. Children with autism and other disabilities often experience sensory overload, which can make it difficult for them to focus, communicate, and engage in classroom activities. A sensory-friendly learning environment can help the students self-regulate, enhance their concentration, and increase their overall participation in academic activities.
I can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment by providing sensory toys, fidget toys, and other resources.
This will allow these students to feel comfortable and cared for, promoting increased participation and achieving their full academic potential. These supplies will enable our kindergarten through first graders to regulate their emotions in a warm, safe space within the classroom. Your generous contribution will make a significant difference in these children's lives, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive both emotionally and academically.
